Thomas Barry arrived at the University at Buffalo in 1970 from Yale University, which granted him his Ph.D. degree in 1972. He has distinguished himself by his teaching and his commitment to the quality of education in the university at large. In 1975, his outstanding services were recognized by the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Professor Barry’s current research concerns the role of classical thought in the construction of western religious humanism.
